This forms part of the 16-week Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills groups for adolescents and families, facilitated by Dr. Kam Wong (Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist) and Werner Teichert (Clinical Psychologist).
Who is it for:
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) was developed for individuals who experience intense emotions such as extreme sadness, depression, anger and anxiety.
The behaviours associated with these intense emotions often lead to negative consequences in relationships, at work or school and psychological wellbeing.
DBT focuses on teaching the skills needed to effectively regulated these emotions.

Adolescent Group: Tuesdays 17:15 - 18:45 Mindsight Clinic, Suite 5, 924 Pacific highway, Gordon NSW 2072
Parent and Family Group: Mondays 16:00 - 17:00 Online via Zoom

What is the process:
1. Book an intake interview:
The purpose of the intake interview is to assess current problem areas, including the history, provide more information on the group process, introduce different self-report measures and set goals for the group.
Please note that this group is not meant for emergency intervention and having a primary treating practitioner is compulsory. It remains the responsibility of the primary treating clinician and parents to ensure there is a safety plan in place that does not involve contacting the group facilitators in case of emergency.
2. Register for the module(s)
In the 16-week program there are 4 modules that last 4 weeks each. Each module consists of 4 sessions for both adolescents and adults. Families have the following registration options:
Option 1: Register for all 16 weeks (4 modules).
Space is limited and this guarantees your space for all adolescent and family groups.
* The total cost is: $4800. * Once-off, monthly or weekly payment options are available. * Medicare rebates are available for both the adolescent and parent group if accompanied by a referral from a GP or psychiatrist.
Option 2: Register per module
Choosing this option allows families enrol for one module and have the first option to continue with the next module. If registration is not received by the 3rd week of the module in progress, spaces will be made available to another family for the next module.
* The total cost per module is: $1200
* Once-off, monthly or weekly payment options are available.
* Medicare rebates are available for both the adolescent and parent group if accompanied by a referral from a GP or psychiatrist.

Distress Tolerance: Skills that focus on handling crises and managing intense emotions through acceptance.
Emotion Regulation: Skills that focus on understanding our emotions, reducing our emotion vulnerability and reducing your emotional suffering.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: Skills that focus on maintaining and improving relationships, communicating effectively, managing conflict and maintaining self-respect.
